North East Worcestershire College’s Community Open Event on Saturday 20th October saw almost 800 visitors across both the Bromsgrove and Redditch campuses.
Members of the local community were invited along to take a tour of NEW College and find out more about the wide range of courses on offer. Facilities on show at the Redditch Town Centre campus included the newly refurbished Sixth Form Centre, a simulation of an airplane cabin, working Hair and Beauty salon Fusion, and Archers Restaurant which is also open to the public. At the Bromsgrove Campus visitors were treated to a tour of brand new Motor Vehicle Workshops, the Harley Davidson University, state-of-the-art games design suites, broadcast-ready TV and music studios, and much more.
The Bromsgrove campus welcomed a special visitor in the form of Midlands Today news presenter Joanne Malin, who came to take a tour along with members of the public. Speaking after the tour, Jo said,
“The tour has been really interesting, it’s a great opportunity to see the fantastic variety of facilities on offer here at NEW College.”
“The Community Open Event has been a great success,” began Principal John Callaghan, “…having the opportunity to showcase the excellent facilities and the enthusiasm of staff for the subjects they are passionate about teaching is what we really wanted to highlight. I want everyone to feel as proud to be a part of NEW College as I do.”
For those that missed the opportunity to come along to the Community Open Day, there are still plenty of chances to discover what’s on offer at NEW College, including the School Leavers Open Evening on Thursday 8th November at both Bromsgrove and Redditch campuses (including Alliance House in Redditch for Construction Courses). The ever-popular event takes place from 5:30-8pm. For more details visit the NEW College website at www.discovernewcollege.com or call the friendly advice team on 01527 570020.
