NEW College has a long tradition of delivering vocational education and training in the visual arts and the engineering and automotive industries. Added to this, in recent years the College has also developed considerable experience in the areas of Information Technology and the Expressive Arts.
As part of a bold initiative to transform the College into one of the UK's best appointed and most effective post-16 providers this provision has been gathered together at the Bromsgrove Campus in order to develop a 'centre of excellence' dedicated to Arts and Technology to deliver both Further and Higher Education courses.
Over the last decade this initiative has involved the complete re-development of the campus to create a spectacular facility which now includes a theatre, TV and music recording studios, extensively equipped engineering workshops and an automotive training centre developed in partnership with one the world's foremost international blue chip companies.
Subjects offered at the Bromsgrove Campus include:
Worldwide, Harley-Davidson seeks to support its dealers in becoming and remaining industry leaders in motorcycling expertise and customer service by providing dealers with a range of headquarters-sponsored training programs and specialist facilities known as the 'Harley-Davidson University'.
Through partnership with Harley-Davidson, NEW College has become the base for the UK's only 'Harley-Davidson University' with the facility in Bromsgrove providing training for employees from Harley-Davidson franchise dealerships from across Europe and beyond.
The instructors at Bromsgrove have a wealth of experience both in the automotive industry and as professional educators, and are themselves involved in constant intensive updating on the latest technical developments in the Harley-Davidson product portfolio.
Around 450 Harley-Davidson technicians a year attend the Centre at NEW College for product updating, and professional development training using programmes developed by the parent company in the US.
The location is ideal for both UK-based and international trainees being at the centre of the country's motorway networks via the M5 and M42 and just a short drive from Birmingham International Airport. With NEW College sharing its location with a hotel, pub restaurant, sports centre and arts centre trainees can attend residential courses with no need to ever leave the campus.
Artrix - Bromsgrove's community arts centre
Thanks to an innovative partnership with Bromsgrove District Council, the College is able to deliver its Expressive Arts courses in a versatile multi-disciplinary arts centre at the Bromsgrove Campus.
The facility known as 'Artrix' includes a 300-seat auditorium, a spacious dance studio, teaching rooms and a visually stunning foyer/gallery. Whilst the centre's primary function is to provide a cultural hub for the community of Bromsgrove it also ensures that NEW College students studying in Performing Arts, Theatre Production and Music enjoy an environment that must be the envy of students across the country.
Managed by a charitable trust on behalf of Bromsgrove District Council, each year Artrix provides a programme of around 200 live performances including a wide variety of music, theatre and comedy, 200 film screenings, over 400 workshops and a dozen art exhibitions.
New Beginnings College Nursery
New Beginnings College Nursery is situated at the Bromsgrove campus, but is a facility available to all Redditch and Bromsgrove students who may require childcare whilst studying. The nursery can accommodate up to 38 children, with spaces available for 12 babies from 3months up to 2 years, 12 spaces for 2-3 year olds and 14 spaces available for children aged 3-4 years of age.
The nursery seeks to provide a wrap around service that not only offers excellent child care, but also has the added flexibility that cannot normally be offered through private day-care nurseries. It is as a college nursery, the needs of the students are better understood, providing care that is catered towards the students needs.
